HOW YOU CAN BAKE A DIFFERENCE
We believe that everyone can get involved in Cakes for Apes this year! No matter what you do, by taking part, you will be baking a future for orangutans in desperate need. From taking your tea party virtual to entering our online competition, we have put together some of our top tips to get you inspired!
BAKE ALONG WITH CHETNA MAKAN!
To kick off the start of Cakes for Apes 2021 and the month of Ape-ril, we hosted an interactive livestream baking class with The Great British Bake Off star Chetna Makan!
The event is now available to watch online at your own leisure, where you can follow Chetna in making a delicious vegan chocolate ginger nut cake. Please do make a donation if you can!
TAKE YOUR TEA PARTY VIRTUAL
Have you considered hosting a virtual tea party? You could drop some baked goods on your friend’s, family’s or neighbour’s doorstep and then meet over Zoom or Skype to enjoy them together whilst making a small donation to Cakes for Apes! Incorporate an orangutan quiz or game to make your tea party even more engaging.
HOST AN ONLINE RECIPE EXCHANGE
You could host an online recipe exchange by setting up a Facebook or WhatsApp group, where you and a group of friends can exchange your favourite baking recipes. For each recipe you take – make a small donation!
JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP
Over the years, our Cakes for Apes community has grown and grown. If you would like to virtually meet other like-minded people who enjoy baking plus who are passionate about saving the orangutans, then please join our Facebook group!

GET INVOLVED OFFLINE
We understand the difficulties some of you may have faced trying to stay in touch with your community this past year if you don’t have access to a computer or the internet, or if you are beginning to feel the effects of zoom fatigue! Therefore, we have come up with a really fun way in which you can still take part – completely offline.
